Where is Mount Gambier?
by Mike Lampard, 27/09/2009
Mount Gambier is a vibrant, progressive city set halfway between Adelaide (the South Australian capital) and Melbourne (Victoria's capital), 420km southeast of Adelaide, 420km west of Melbourne, about 30km from the Victorian border. Population: 30,000
Mount Gambier has a temperate climate with warm summers and cool winters. According to the Bureau of Meteorology, it rains in Mount Gambier on more days per year than any other place in the state, but that's not as bad as it sounds, as South Australia is the dryest state in the dryest continent on earth.

Only 50km to the north of Mount Gambier is Coonawarra, one of Australia's best wine districts, renowned for it's excellent Cabernet Savignon and other grape varieties.
Mt Gambier's most famous natural attaction is the Blue Lake, so named due to the brilliant turquoise colour it changes to every summer before changing back to a dull blue grey around April. The remarkably clean, clear lake supplies Mount Gambier and the surrounding area with drinking water.
Mount Gambier and the Southeast of South Australia is proving itself to be increasingly receptive to the idea of Opensource Software. With each passing year, the numbers attending the Limestone Coast Software Freedom Day expo increase exponentially. Schools from around the region are looking to opensource as a way of improving the educational opportunities of lower income families, and running opensource applications such as Moodle as a backend to their on-campus operations.
ImaginOZ InfoTech offers professional onsite support for opensource applications to business and educational institutions within 100km of the City of Mount Gambier. This includes Naracoorte to the north, Robe and Kingston SE to the northwest, Hamilton and the Port of Portland in Victoria.
